Free Moving and Relocation Organizer

A move is dozens of small jobs, and most of them have a deadline. Type your move date once and 48 tasks get due dates. Overdue turns red, due this week turns amber, and the Dashboard tells you the next thing to do. Moving for the military? A PCS Move tab covers every branch, from orders to claims.

Works in any browser and the Google Sheets app. Prefer Excel? Make your copy, then choose File, Download, Microsoft Excel. Free. No email required.

What's inside

  • Dashboard: days until the move, tasks overdue and due this week, your budget, and the next thing to do

  • Moving Timeline: 48 tasks from 8 weeks out to after you move in, each dated from your move date

  • PCS Move: 26 military move steps for all branches, from orders and DPS to weight tickets, vouchers, and claims, each dated from the same move date

  • Budget and Mover Quotes: estimate vs actual, what is left to pay, and up to 8 quotes side by side

  • Box Inventory: every box by room, with fragile, packed, and unpacked

  • Change of Address and Utilities: who needs your new address, and what to stop and start

  • Moving Day Companion (PDF): the day-of checklist, first-night box, utility and address lists, and final walkthrough

How to start

  1. Make your copy and open the Dashboard.

  2. Type your move date in the highlighted box. Every task gets a due date.

  3. Work the Moving Timeline from the top. Check the Dashboard every few days.

Two things people miss

  • Change your address at the official USPS site, usps.com/move, or at the post office. Look-alike sites charge extra fees.

  • Your driver's license, vehicle registration, and voter registration have state deadlines after you move, and some are short. Check your state's DMV and election office.

Keep it safe

Never type a Social Security number, full account numbers, or passwords into the sheet. For account numbers, the last four digits are enough. Keep your copy in your own Google account and share it only by email with people you trust.

The fine print

This is an unofficial planning tool. It does not replace your lease, contracts, or moving-company agreements, and it is not affiliated with USPS, any moving company, or the Department of Defense. Military move rules change, so confirm details with your transportation office. Free to use, copy, and share. Please do not sell it.
