Mission-Ready Tools is a free, independent resource site. We do not sell anything, show ads, or sell or share your information for advertising. Here is what this site collects and why, in plain words.

Things you type into our tools

Our interactive tools, like the Deadline Calculator, the Federal Resume Checker, and the Benefits Starter, run in your own browser. What you type is not sent to us or anyone else.

A few tools save your answers in your browser so you can come back later: the ANG Retirement Navigator, the Friction Hunt, and the Pareto Builder. Only this browser on this device keeps them. To remove them, use the tool's Clear or Start a new button, or clear your browser history and site data (in your browser's Settings, under Privacy). On a shared computer, clear them when you are done.

Visit statistics

We use Google Analytics and Squarespace Analytics to see which pages and tools help people. They record things like the pages you visit, your device and browser type, your general area (such as city, state, or country), and the site that sent you. When you use a tool, we count that it was used, for example "a timeline was built." We never record what you typed. Like any website, Squarespace and Google receive your internet address when you visit.

These services use cookies. Google may use cookies to recognize your browser across visits and across other sites that use Google services. Google's page How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services explains what Google does with this data. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. The site works the same either way.

Do Not Track: our site does not change what it does when your browser sends a Do Not Track signal.

If you send us something

  • Contact form: we use your name, email, and message only to reply to you.

  • Book and new tool updates: signing up is optional. We use your email only to send updates about the book and new free tools. It is stored in Squarespace and in a private Google Sheet only we can see. Every email has a way to unsubscribe. Downloads never require signing up.

Downloads and Google Sheets copies

Files you download are yours. We do not see what you put in them. When you make a Google Sheets copy, it is saved to your own Google account under Google's terms, and we cannot see it.

Services we use

Squarespace hosts this site and its forms. Google provides Analytics, the Sheets templates, and the sheet that holds email signups. Links to official sites, such as VA, TRICARE, or OPM, take you to their sites and their privacy policies.

Children

This site is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to this page
