Brian Mongold
Process improvement practitioner. I find where work breaks and fix the smallest thing that matters.
I spent 23 years in the Air Force and Air National Guard and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant on September 1, 2023. I started as a pharmacy technician, retrained into IT, then moved through personnel systems and training and development before leading a Force Support Squadron. Most recently I served as Management Analyst and Wing Process Manager for the DC Air National Guard's 113th Wing, leading the wing's continuous improvement program. Along the way I learned that most problems are not hard. They are harder than they need to be.

500 minutes to essentially zero. Two people hand-sent 35 to 50 sets of email for every deploying group. One connection to a form that already worked ended the manual work. Read the case study
An estimated 130 hours a year. Moving a pharmacy staging area saved about nine seconds per prescription, about 220 times a day. The yearly figure is calculated from measured trip time and daily volume. Read the case study
A lesson, not a number. I built a recruiting tracker first and then found that nobody owned the process. Fix ownership before you build the tool.

How I work
EASIER: six questions for any problem at work or home. Explain what is hard. Ask what happens now. Spot where it breaks. Improve the way. Experiment with the better way. Review what changed.
Plain words first, method second, measured result third. Try less before building more. See the six process guides.
